The Republic of Navaria is a major maritime power located on the azure coasts of the world of Fãlherilh. It is distinguished by its maritime dominance and its social organization based on merit and competition.
Geography and Territory
The Navarian territory is a mosaic of rugged coasts, steep cliffs, and archipelagos dotted with fertile islands. This maritime geography has shaped a civilization of conquerors, merchants, and, above all, navigators, whose lives are paced by the incessant movement of the tides and the radiance of an omnipresent sun.
Its border with Takkanor is largely defined by the Moonlit Peaks. The Seceres Strait marks the maritime border with the kingdom of Karran.
Society and Social Order
Navarian society is a confederation of sovereign city-states. Unlike the rigidity of the castes in Karran, an individual's destiny in Navaria is not predetermined at birth, but is forged through their actions, their exploits, and their service rendered to the Republic.
Social mobility is the nation's driving force. Competition for prestige and recognition is omnipresent, pushing every citizen to prove their worth through action. Respect is not inherited; it is earned through courage, intelligence, or commercial success. Honor and reputation constitute the bedrock of social cohesion, as failure is not a matter of lineage, but of personal merit.
Institutions of the Republic
Power is structured around two pillars that ensure the balance between the will of the cities and the efficiency of the State:
- The Assembly of Cities: A legislative and deliberative body, it brings together the representatives of the various cities and archipelagos. It is the place of public debate, commercial negotiations, and diplomacy, where the Republic's major directions are decided.
- The Council of Magistrates: An executive body charged with the daily management of the republic. It supervises the protection of the coasts, the management of maritime routes, and the coordination of expeditions. The Council transforms the will of the Assembly into concrete actions, guaranteeing the stability and power of the Navarian fleet.
Beliefs and Spirituality
The Republic of Navaria professes no official religion. Spiritual life there is characterized by a great diversity of local cults and personal beliefs that coexist within the cities. Among the many deities venerated, the cult of Nãkama, goddess of the ocean, occupies a significant place, particularly among sailors and navigators.
However, beyond individual cults, Navarian culture is united by a common philosophy: the "Triumph of the Drive". This mindset celebrates audacity, courage, and the capacity of the individual to leave their mark on history through their feats. In this perspective, the universe is not a fixed order to be respected, but a constant challenge that man must meet through his action and his willpower.
